GREENFIELD
Wylla Lee (Johnson) Greene, age 88, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Greenfield Healthcare Center. Born on June 9, 1933, in Emanuel, Kentucky, she was the daughter of John Johnson and Ruth (Brown) Johnson. She graduated from Hall High School. Wylla married Augustus Greene in Dayton, Ohio on September 4, 1954.
She worked for the 3D Department Store in Greenfield for 4 years and prior to that she worked at the Hancock County Recorder’s office for 8 years. Wylla was a very active member at the Greenfield Church of Christ for many years. She loved her church family dearly. In her free time, she enjoyed doing yard work and canning vegetables.
Wylla is survived by her son, Gary Greene (Debby) of Brentwood, California; daughter, Annette Townsend (Bill) of Greenfield; grandchildren, Debra Phalen, Susan Wilcox, Isahrai Azaria, Billy Townsend (Jenny), Sarah Greene, Denise Townsend, and Amanda Greene; great-grandchildren, Chris Phalen, Addison Greene, Abigail Phalen, Eli Phalen, Ellery Azaria, Rebekah Armes and Jakob Armes; great great-grandson, Theodore Armes; brothers, Johnny Johnson (Phyllis) of Richmond, KY, Bob Johnson (Nancy) of Cookville, TN, Jimmy Johnson (Donna) of Greenville, OH, Bill Johnson (Donna) of Bradenton, FL, Jack Johnson (Maria) of Vandalia, OH, and Carl Johnson (Joyce) of Sarasota, FL; and sister, Bonnie Casey of Bradenton, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruth; husband, Augustus; son, Billy Greene; sister, Dallas Johnson; and grandson, Chad Wilcox.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenfield Church of Christ, 1380 S State St, Greenfield, IN 46140. Pastor Brandon Lavy will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
