GREENFIELD — The Greenfield Area Chamber of Commerce recently celebrated a ribbon-cutting for Wearly Monuments’ new location at 952 W. Main St.

The Muncie-based monument maker settled into the location, formerly operated by Greenfield Granite, earlier this year. The company has over 40 locations in Indiana and Ohio. Joe Riggs, pastor of Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Greenfield, serves as manager and sole employee.

State chamber OK with legislative session

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Chamber of Commerce was for the most part accepting of the outcome of the Indiana General Assembly’s 2022 legislative session.

Indiana Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Kevin Brinegar said in a news release that the 2022 Indiana General Assembly concluded “overall in a good place for the rights of businesses, for the state’s economy and for talent attraction and growth. But the Senate’s failure to support a tax cut that would strengthen the state’s manufacturing sector is a head-scratcher given Indiana’s incredibly strong finances.”

State unemployment dropped in February

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana’s unemployment rate dropped to 2.3% in February from 2.4% in January — continuing a favorable streak that began in May 2020 in which the unemployment rate each month since has either fallen or remained stable, according to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. The national unemployment rate, by comparison, decreased to 3.8% in February from 4% in January.

In addition, Indiana’s labor force participation rate rose from 61.9% in January to 62.1% in February, falling just below the national rate of 62.3%. Indiana’s total labor force, which includes both Hoosiers employed and those seeking employment, stands at 3,315,890.
