GREENFIELD
Curtis A. Potter, age 93, of Greenfield, Indiana passed away Monday, February 7, 2022 at Hancock Regional Hospital. Born on November 27, 1928, in Catoosa, Tennessee, he was the son of Homer A. Potter Sr. and Alvertia (Bishop) Potter. Curtis was a 1947 graduate of Huntsville High School. He married Janis Burchfield on November 10, 1948, in Rossville, Georgia.
Before retiring in 1982, he was a machine repairman at Allison Transmission for 30 years. Curtis enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, deer hunting, gardening, and keeping up with his yardwork. He also liked reading and woodworking. He was a member of the United Auto Workers and loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Curtis is survived by his wife of 73 years, Janis Potter of Greenfield; daughters, Sheila Fox (Robert) of Greenfield and Deborah Shippee (Gerald) of Frazee, MN; grandchildren, Robin Johnson (Sherman) of Punta Gorda, FL, Jeremy Fox (Kim Forrest) of Greenfield, Nathan Shippee (Tetyana) of St. Paul, MN, and Aaron Shippee (Annalise) of Dent, MN; great-grandchildren, Sadie, Carter, Lilliana, Milena, and Eliana; sister, Gertrude Dellinger (John) of New Castle; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Alvertia Potter; and brother, Homer A. Potter Jr.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will begin at noon. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
