JAMES “JIM” RALPH FORCUM, JR, age 75, passed into the arms of Our Lord on Feb. 4, 2022 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Jim was a loving son, brother, husband, devoted father, doting grandfather, and loyal friend.

He was born Nov. 11, 1946, in Indianapolis, IN, to James Ralph Forcum, Sr. and Kathryn Jeanette (Deschler) Forcum. Raised in Greenfield, IN, he graduated from Greenfield High School in 1965. In 1969 he graduated from Indiana University’s School of Business. On Oct. 11, 1969, he married Marilyn Kay Haase, the love of his life, in New Palestine, IN.

In Jan. 1982, Jim accepted employment as a civilian with the United States Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, OH in the profession of “Contracting” (Acquisition). Over a span of 30 years, before his retirement in 2010, he planned, wrote and negotiated contracts valued at over $1 billion.

Mr. Forcum was a life-long amateur historiographer with a passion for genealogy, family history and American history. This led to discoveries within his own family and eventual memberships in the Sons of the American Revolution, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War and Sons of Confederate Veterans.

He was a long-time member of Kirkmont United Presbyterian Church in Beavercreek, OH, and currently a member of Evangelical Community Church of Cincinnati, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Doris (Autrey) Forcum and infant brother, Mark Rezin Forcum.

Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Marilyn Kay (Haase) Forcum; brother John F. and wife Christine (Reilly) Forcum of Greenfield, IN; two sons Daniel T. and wife Nicole (Babinec) Forcum, and their children Logan and Holli, and David J. with his wife Darby (Arozarena) Forcum, and their children Josie Kathryn, and Benjamin George, all of Cincinnati, OH; nephew Mark F. Forcum, of Indianapolis, IN; and nieces Darian Lindle-Notis and Laura Lindle, both of Seattle, WA, and numerous cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hospice of Cincinnati, or Children International in Mr. Forcum’s name.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel, 7830 Hamilton Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45231. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m., with the funeral service at 3 p.m.
