GREENFIELD – Donations are being accepted now for the Rotary Club of Greenfield’s 23rd annual Gift of Life Auction.
The event, scheduled for Feb. 26, raises money for children with congenital heart disease. Gift of Life International has helped more than 40,000 children in 80 countries receive treatment for heart disease over the past 46 years, according to the organization’s website..
Rotarians are collecting donations to help fund medical missions to undeveloped countries for children with life-threatening heart conditions. There are times, however, when medical facilities in an underdeveloped area cannot accommodate these heart surgeries. In those situations, the club will help fund travel for a child to Riley’s Children Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House.
Over the years the Greenfield club has helped raise over $1 million for the Gift of Life Program. Donated auction items, food, refreshment and facility preparations, ticket sales and active bidding is crucial to the organization’s success.
Live auction items needed include kayaks, bikes and exercise equipment; technology gadgets; concert or production tickets; Pacers tickets; landscape or interior decorating items; autographed items from sports and entertainment celebrities; original artwork or wood crafts; themed dinners or outings, trips, vacation rentals; and home security systems.
Silent auction items needed include “man cave” items; “she shack” items; video security systems; spa treatments; break-out experiences; group wine, whiskey or beer tastings; adult beverages; jewelry and musical instruments.
