FORTVILLE
Ruth Ann Gudgel, 92, of Fortville, IN passed away on January 8, 2022. She was born on June 19, 1929, in Washington, IN to Grover and Julia (Schubert) Clements. She was a graduate of Fortville High School Class of 1947. During the Korean War, Ruth Ann worked at Ft. Benjamin Harrison for the U.S. Army in the Signal Corps Department. Ruth Ann worked as an insurance underwriter and retired from Amerisure as a personal lines supervisor after 20 years’ service. She loved music and played the piano and organ for 80 years. She began playing in church at the age of 8. She was very active in church teaching Sunday school to both children and adults. She was an officer and the organist for the Eden Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 101. She also enjoyed crocheting and being active in the Fortville Book Club.
She is survived by her husband Denzel D. Gudgel whom she married August 14, 1949, her children Ronald (Teri) Gudgel, Cheryl Ann Patterson, and Terri Lynn (Larry Fentz) Gudgel-Merchant; grandson Michael David Trowbridge; and great granddaughter Lily Gudgel. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson Cory E. Gudgel.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Seals Funeral Home, 122 W. Staat St., Fortville, IN with visitation prior to the service beginning at 12:00 noon. She will be laid to rest at Gravel Lawn Cemetery.
