GREENFIELD
88, passed away October 13, 2021. She was born April 12, 1933 in Bloomington, Indiana to the late Everett and Cassie Smith. Joan received her Bachelor’s Degree and her Master’s Degree from Ball State University. She married John “Don” Kennedy, and was a school teacher for Grassy Creek Elementary School for 19 years. Joan was a former member of Mount Comfort United Methodist Church and a current member of Brookville Road Community Church.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. at Brookville Road Community Church, 7480 US 52, New Palestine.
Joan is survived by her children, Shirley A. (Tony) Thacker, Diane M. Sanford, David B. (Julie) Kennedy, Daniel R. (Angi) Kennedy and Matthew S. (Lisa) Kennedy; brother, James Smith; 14 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren and one on the way. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Don Kennedy; daughter, Karen Kennedy; son-in-law, Brian Sanford; and great-grandson, Jace Sweet.
