The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection reports.

June 1

Circle K

Location: 1136 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of inspection: routine

Violations found: NC – no hand soap at hand sink, to be corrected by June 10. C – hand sink has items in front of it and gloves in the sink; sink needs to be easily accessible; to be corrected by June 2.

Circle K

1124 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of inspection: routine

Violation found: C – drain line at three-compartment sink is leaking; to be corrected by June 9.

Pizza King

Location: 6550 W. Broadway St., McCordsville

Type of inspection: routine

Violation found: NC – need to provide test strips for dish machine sanitizer; to be corrected by June 9.

Needlers Fresh Market

Location: 5802 W. U.S. 52, New Palestine

Type of inspection: routine

Violations found: C, R- garlic bologna not date-marked correctly; corrected. NC – drain pipe at sink leaking in meat-cutting room; to be corrected by July 9.

Location: 45 E. Main St., New Palestine

Type of inspection: routine

No violations found.

June 4

Speedway

Location: 1252 N. State St. Greenfield

Type of inspection: routine

Violations found: NC, R – hand sink coming away from wall, cracked floor tiles need replaced, wall near cooler door damaged; to be corrected by July 15. NC – dirt build-up along base of grease trap, mop sink and behind door leading into food prep area; to be corrected by July 15.

Location: 5945 W. Broadway, McCordsville

June 8

Dairy Queen

Location: 346 W. Broadway St., Fortville

Type of inspection: routine.

Violations found: C, R – need to have proof of manager’s food handler certification; to be corrected by Sept. 1. NC, R – ice build-up on floor of walk-in freezer, floor of walk-in cooler is coming up and grease trap in grill area is not working properly; to be corrected by June 15. C – food in walk-in cooler is not being held cool enough; repair person is on the way; corrected. NC – floor is very slippery throughout the establishment; to be corrected by June 15.

June 14

Fortville Broadway Diner

Location: 426 E. Broadway St., Fortville

Type of inspection: routine

Violations found: NC – no soap at hand sink in kitchen; corrected. C – dishes in hand sink; corrected. C, R – metal cabinet drawers with cooking utensils have debris; to be corrected by June 17. NC – to-go cups need to be kept in dispensers or in original sleeves; to be corrected by June 17. C, R – employee observed touching cell phone and clothing with food-handling gloves on and then touching food; corrected.

Noble Roman’s Craft Pizza and Pub

Location: 6857 W. Broadway St., McCordsville

Type of inspection: routine.

Violations found: NC, R – no paper towels at hand sink in bar areas; corrected. C – items in hand sink in dough-making area and some items in front of hand sink across from pizza prep coolers; corrected. NC, R – utensil stored between equipment, ice scoop directly on ice machine; corrected.

Location: 1506½ N. State St., Greenfield

Violation found: NC – floors have some debris build-up along edges and in corners; to be corrected by July 15.

Location: 1649 W. Main St., Greenfield

Violations found: C – food being held hot-held needs to be at 135 degrees or above, reach-in prep cooler not cold enough; corrected. NC – need to obtain a thin-tipped food thermometer; to be corrected by June 30. C – spray bottle with chemical not labeled; corrected.
