Nonprofits encouraged to apply for fundraiser

GREENFIELD — Nonprofit organizations are encouraged to apply for funding from the annual Steak ‘n Bake ‘n Raffle through the Rotary Club of Greenfield.

The raffle fundraiser is Sept. 18. To participate, groups must apply by July 9 and give an elevator speech at a Rotary Club meeting July 15. Rotarians will vote for a top 10, who can participate in the fundraiser culminating the night of the event. The top five organizations that bring in the most new dollars will get to split the pot of funds raised at the raffle, while the remaining five will retain the dollars they raised.

To apply, organizations can send a one-page summary of their mission and the impact the organization is making on Hancock County. Applications must also include the number of people annually served, along with their 501(c)3 nonprofit status letter and most recent year’s financial statement. Information can be sent to [email protected] by July 9.

Breastfeeding Coalition hosts ‘Walk in the Park’ event

GREENFIELD — The Hancock County Breastfeeding Coalition is hosting a bimonthly “Walk in the Park” event for women to meet each other for exercise.

The group will meet the second and fourth Saturday of each month at Beckenholdt Park at 10:30 a.m., starting June 26 and followed by July 10, July 24, Aug. 14, Aug. 28, Sept. 11 and Sept. 25.

The event starts at the shelter house behind the restrooms of the park, 2770 N. Franklin St., Greenfield. The first 30 minutes will be for walking, followed by 30 minutes of socializing. For more information, call (317) 468-4397.

COAD trailer will be on display at county fairgrounds

GREENFIELD — A trailer designed to help the community in disasters and emergencies will be on display for Hancock County Safety Day July 21 at the county fairgrounds.

The county’s Community Organization Active in Disaster Disaster (COAD) was able to equip the trailer through a $3,000 grant from the Hancock County Community Foundation. Bradley United Methodist Church made the initial investment the trailer project in January 2019; additional donations came from Hancock Regional Health, Greenfield Sertoma Club and individuals. The trailer provides bathroom and shower facilities, minor food services and an operations center during times of emergency.

In addition to the safety day, the trailer is tentatively scheduled to be on display at the Green Township pork chop dinner July 17, McCordsville Community Day Aug. 6 and Sugar Creek Fire Safety Day Sept. 25. For more information, visit www.hancockcoad.org.

Love INC to host money management classes

GREENFIELD — Love INC is holding a money management workshop at Park Chapel Christian Church June 29, July 6 and July 20. The organization can also host a workshop at local businesses or other locations. Topics include managing money, tracking expenses, establishing a budget and paying off debt.
