CHARLOTTESVILLE — The Eastern Hancock School Board will vote on hiring a new superintendent at its meeting on Monday, May 10.
The meeting will be the first announcement of the new superintendent candidate, who will replace retiring Superintendent Dave Pfaff. The meeting will take place at the Eastern Hancock administration building beginning at 7 p.m.
The school board held a special meeting on Monday, May 3, to take public comments on a proposed contract for the new superintendent, but no one attended to comment. The contract term is July 1, 2021, through June 30, 2024, running for 260 days per year.
The base salary outlined in the contract is $117,000 per year, although the board may adjust the rate of pay at the end of every school year if the superintendent’s performance during the last year is rated as “effective” or “highly effective.”
The superintendent will receive 12 sicks days per year, six personal days and 20 paid vacation days.
The school corporation will also provide the superintendent with payment for electronic devices needed to work; membership in organizations such as the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents; and a $6,000 per year medical stipend along with the option to purchase insurance.
