Kids can make a Mother’s Day card
GREENFIELD/NEW PALESTINE – Kids in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade can pick up a Take-and-Make Mother’s Day card kit during open library hours on May 3 at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield, or the New Palestine Branch Library at 5731 West U.S. Highway 52, New Palestine. The kit contains everything needed for completing the project. No registration necessary. GREENFIELD – Greenfield Parks and Recreation’s Art Studio will offer outer space-themed art workshops each Wednesday in May at the Patricia Elmore Center, 280 N. Apple St. A class for 6- to 8-year-olds will meet from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.; a class for 9- to 12-year-olds will meet from 6 to 7 p.m. The four-week class is $55 for city residents and $60 for non-residents. Instructor Rachel Holmes will lead students through projects such as collagraph prints and paint-pour galaxies. Students will use a variety of art materials for work on projects that draw inspiration from NASA’s Perseverance to design their own Mars rovers. Drive-thru Jurassic Quest at the State Fairgrounds
INDIANAPOLIS – Enjoy a social-distanced Jurassic Quest drive-thru April 30 through May 9 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, 1200 W. 38th St. A herd of animatronic dinos – from the largest predators to the smallest babies – are displayed in realistic scenes that allow guests to experience them roaring and moving as they drive through the tour. In collaboration with leading paleontologists, each dinosaur is replicated in detail, from tooth size to textured skin. An audio tour comes standard with every $49 vehicle purchase (limited to eight people per vehicle) as well as a safari-style digital souvenir photo of your vehicle and family transported back in time via a Jurassic setting.
