HANCOCK COUNTY — The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department is seeking to hire approximately 10 jail officers. Two upcoming dates are available for testing.
Responsibilities of jail officers include, among other duties, supervision of inmates in the county jail; managing holding areas and transporting prisoners; performing searches of inmates and visitors, and conducting searches for contraband such as weapons or drugs.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent; must be at least 21 years of age; and must possess a valid driver’s license. A year of corrections experience is preferred but not required. Candidates also must pass a background check, a drug test and a physical and psychological exam.
