GREENFIELD – Virginia Lou (Brown) John, age 87, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, March 5, 2021. She was born in Hancock county on September 16, 1933 to John and Josephine (Tucker) Brown. She graduated from Morristown High School in 1951. She married Hugh John on October 19, 1954 in New Palestine.
Virginia worked at Indiana Knitwear as a payroll clerk for 32 years. She was a member of the Greenfield Christian Church, Night Owl Quilt Guild, and the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, and cooking.
She is survived by her loving husband, Hugh; son, Michael John (Dee); daughter, Gail Levering (Rich); sister, Geraldine Nigh; grandchildren, Jeremy, Carrie (Jeremy), Jonathan (Samantha) and Joshua (Deena); great-grandchildren, Zachary, Hayden, Wyatt and Gatlin. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Gerald and Johnny Brown; and grandson, Joseph Levering.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at Erlewein Mortuary. Burial will follow at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown. As a reminder, the government mandate requires guests to wear masks when inside our building. We must limit the number of guests at a time and please practice social distancing.
