Edward Eugene “Big Ed” Jackson, 80, of Knightstown, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Greenfield Healthcare Center. He was born December 17, 1940 in Greenfield, son of Wilbur and Lois (Loveall) Jackson.
Edward retired from Allison GM as a pipefitter for over 30 years. He was an entrepreneur and developed a waste water treatment system. He was former owner of the Round Up Night Club in Indianapolis. He was a master carpenter, remodeling many homes. Edward enjoyed playing poker, was an artist, enjoyed drawing and was a devoted family man. He was a member and past president of UAW Local 933 and in his younger years liked roller skating.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 37 years, Carol (Knopp) Jackson, whom he married April 26, 1983; daughter, Sally Jackson McClurg; two sons, Ron Jackson and Dan Jackson; step daughter, Donna Hampton; step son, David Dodd; brothers, Don, Steve and Rick Jackson; grandchildren, Jonas Jackson, Jeremiah Jackson, Philishia Jackson, Hannah Burchett, Bethany Campbell, Josiah Jackson, Mathias Jackson, Jackie Sears, Michael “Storm” Whitehead, Matthew Jackson, Katie Harbin and Haley Hampton; great grandchildren, Kynrda, Tristan, Kyler, Logan, Braxton, Knox, Kathleen, Payten, Carter, Charlee, Maggie, Joe, Faith, Grace, Rosealeea and Maria; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Joey Jackson and Philip Jackson; stepson, Joey Dodd; grandson, Vincent Jackson; great grandson, Darien.
Services will be at 3:30 PM Monday, February 8, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until time of service. Due to the Governor’s mandate, masks will be required.
