HANCOCK COUNTY — The county’s COVID-19 advisory level improved to the “orange” level — the second-highest degree of community spread — on Wednesday.
It had been red, the most severe, since Jan. 6.
The advisory levels, which represent community spread of the virus, are based on weekly cases per 100,000 residents and seven-day positivity rates for all tests. Hancock County’s metric of 488 cases per 100,000 residents gave it a red mark in that category, but its overall score improved enough by having a 10.9% seven-day positivity rate for all tests.
No new COVID-19 deaths were reported for Hancock County Wednesday, keeping its total at 106. Another 53 cases brought that total to 6,832.
As of early Wednesday, 6,863 Hancock County residents had received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 2,171 were fully vaccinated. Statewide, more than 477,000 had received a first dose and almost 113,000 were fully vaccinated.
