GREENFIELD — The 15th annual Lisa Muegge Feast of Plenty will take place at the Hancock County Fairgrounds on Thanksgiving Day, with social distancing and other safeguards in place.

Last year’s event distributed an estimated 2,500 meals to those in need.

A major change for this year’s event: No indoor dining will be available. Instead, prepackaged meals will be distributed from a tent outside the fairgrounds exhibit hall. Visitors will remain in their vehicles for the drive-through process.

Volunteers will also be delivering meals to homes.

This year’s event takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hancock County Fairgrounds, 620 Apple St. in Greenfield.

Face masks and hand sanitizer will be available to Feast of Plenty volunteers, who will be working in smaller groups in staggered shifts to allow for social distancing.

Donations of homemade baked goods will not be accepted this year, but organizers are requesting bags of non-perishable food, soap, toilet paper and other essentials. Each household receiving a meal also receives a bag of food and supplies.

Full information on what should be included in each bag of supplies can be found on the event’s website, www.feastofplentyoutreach.com. The bags may be dropped off at the fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25, and 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning, according to the website.

Information on volunteering for the event also is available on the site.

Reservations to receive a meal can be made by calling 317-335-7590.
