Town reminds residents of bulk trash rules
McCORDSVILLE — The town of McCordsville is reminding residents about bulk trash collection rules.
A bulk item is defined as something that cannot fit properly in a trash bag or which exceeds 50 pounds in weight. A bulk item shall include, but is not limited to any kitchen appliances except refrigerators, household furniture — no sofas over 80 inches and no sleeper sofas, lawn mowers — gas and oil must be removed, mattresses and box springs — queen or smaller and must be wrapped in plastic, lawn furniture and gardening tools, rugs — no larger than 8 by 10 feet and must be rolled and tied, fans, lamps, blinds, and bicycles.
CGS will not take construction debris, remodeling/building materials, hazardous materials, refrigerators or other appliances containing Freon.
Residents may set one bulk item out for free on the first Wednesday of every month. Additional items on that day or any other trash day will require a sticker that can be purchased at McCordsville Town Hall, 6280 W. 800N. Stickers are $16.05 each and only cash and checks are accepted.
If unsure whether a bulk item is eligible, call CGS at 800-453-5575.
