VERNON TOWNSHIP — The Indiana Department of Homeland Security has given Vernon Township notice of a grant award of $3,998.65 for emergency medical services training.

Florence May, Vernon Township trustee, said the funds will be used to buy CPR training equipment, something the township’s fire department currently has to borrow, creating a backlog in its training program.

The grant program is funded by sales of first-responder license plates.
