NEW PALESTINE — After months of being closed for bridge work, the main road through New Palestine is finally open to traffic. Workers from the Indiana Department of Transportation removed barriers and opened U.S. 52 just east of Mt. Comfort Road on Thursday afternoon, Aug. 13, after the final work on a new bridge was wrapped up this week.
The reopening leaves one major project in town still under construction. Restrictions and rough pavement are still in place at the intersection of U.S. 52 and County Road 500W, where the crossing is being improved. The work won’t be completed until at least until the end of the month, officials say.
