HANCOCK COUNTY — A Greenfield woman who was facing four charges, including two felony counts, was sentenced late last week after a plea agreement was finalized in a drunken driving case.

Leslie Ann Bruce, 49, who was facing a Level 5 felony count of causing serious bodily injury when operating a motor vehicle with an ACE of 0.08 or higher; a Level 6 felony charge of criminal recklessness; and two Class A misdemeanors, had the most serious charge dropped Thursday, July 16, in Hancock County Circuit Court.

Judge Scott Sirk issued a two-year sentence for the Level 6 felony to be served at the Hancock County Jail through a direct commitment to the community corrections home detention program upon availability.

Bruce was given a one-year term for the Class A misdemeanor charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person. She was given 46 days credit for time served while the 273 days of the term were suspended. The same terms were applied for the Class A misdemeanor charge of driving while suspended.

Elsewhere in the courts last week, a pre-sentence investigation was ordered in a felony drug case after a man admitted guilt as part of a plea agreement.

Nathan R. Brosseit, 25, Greenfield, is facing four felony drug counts including a couple of Level 5 felony charges for dealing methamphetamine. After a change-of-plea hearing on Thursday, July 16, Sirk ordered a sentencing hearing for Sept. 3.

Also in circuit court, Sirk denied a request by a Danville woman hoping to have her sentence modified.

Lauren E. Mann, 20, Danville, had asked the court to change her three-year, 186-day term for a robbery in July 2019. She has been on probation through community corrections after pleading guilty to a Level 5 count of robbery resulting in bodily injury.

The state objected to the request; Sirk sided with the state, which was represented by county deputy prosecutor Kevin Kelly.
