‘Neighbors’ check in through program
GREENFIELD — Bradley United Methodist Church launched its Good Neighbor program to encourage checking in on others during quarantine.
Those who volunteer are non-vulnerable people who agree to check on two others: one in the congregation, one in the community.
“This ministry allows all of us to serve by dividing up the need to make a greater impact,” associate pastor Heather Cress wrote in an email. “We have a sign-up for members to be paired with persons to check on, and then they can call, pray with them, take them a meal and leave it on their doorstep, run an errand, or even connect them with … our Congregational Network Liaison so she can help them with community resources…
“We are continuing to find God in our new challenges, and find community from a distance.”
