NEW PALESTINE
Betty Mae (Rode) Meiser, age 87, of New Palestine, passed away Friday, January 31, 2020 at her home. She was born in Five Points, Indiana on February 9, 1932 to Ferdinand and Ruby (Elbracht) Rode. She graduated from New Palestine High School in 1950 and also attended Arthur Jordan School of Music.
She married John Meiser on June 4, 1976 at Zion Lutheran Church in New Palestine.
Betty worked at Western Electric for many years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and the Ladies’ Aid Society. She enjoyed playing the organ and piano for her church and spending time with friends and family. Betty loved bowling and went twice a week.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Sue Boyd; son, Noble (Debbie) Mitchell; seven step children, Vickie Darnell, Kristie (Larry) Jonas, Greg (Terri) Meiser, Mark (Susan) Meiser, Patti (Rob) Keaton, Terri (Kevin) Willard and Sherri (Jim) Tucker; grandchild, Zachary Mitchell; and many step grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents Ferdinand and Ruby; and brother, Ted Rode.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Pastor Jason Taylor will be officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
