FORTVILLE — Madisen Carns, Kaeden Smith and Ruthie Lamaster, three Mt. Vernon High School FFA members, will travel this month to Denver, Colorado, to compete at the Western National Roundup at Colorado State University.

These three students recently competed at the Indiana State FFA Meats Evaluation Contest, an event that tests FFA members on their knowledge of meat retail cut identification, carcass grading, yield and quality grading, and other aspects of the meat science industry. The team of three placed second, securing a spot at the national competition.

While in Denver, the team will also have the opportunity to tour Colorado State University and the Denver Stockyard.
