Home prices, sales continue to increase

HANCOCK COUNTY — Home sales in Hancock County showed the most growth in the 16-county central Indiana region in November 2019 compared to November 2018.

In November, pending sales in Hancock County increased 44.7 percent compared to November 2018, according to Indianapolis-based real estate firm F.C. Tucker Co.

Home prices in Hancock County also increased 7.9 percent to an average sale price of $223,220 compared to year-to-date-2018.

Hancock County’s housing inventory dropped the most for the month as well — 24.1% compared to last November.

Duke assistance funds increase

INDIANA — Duke Energy has increased its winter assistance funding for qualifying Indiana customers who may struggle to pay their winter energy bills.

The company is contributing $650,000 for low-income customer energy assistance through its Helping Hand program this year. In addition, Duke Energy Indiana customers and employees have contributed more than $96,000 through November, and more is expected in December, raising this year’s total energy assistance to approximately $750,000. A portion of the company’s funding is the result of an agreement with the Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor.

Chamber hosting cyber security summit

INDIANAPOLIS — Cyber attacks are the most significant risk factor facing Hoosier businesses today, according to the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. The goal of the organization’s 2020 Business Technology Summit is to provide information to help companies protect themselves.

The event, to be held Jan. 22-23 at the Marriott Indianapolis Downtown, will feature the FBI, industry experts and leading employers.

Cost for the full conference is $499 for Indiana Chamber members and $599 for non-members. Single day registration is offered, and group discounts are available.
