Library plans Halloween events

GREENFIELD — Hancock County Public Library will play host to a variety of Halloween-themed and other events during the second half of October.

Families are invited to a “Spooky Family Game Night” event at the Sugar Creek Branch in New Palestine from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 15.

The library will feature new and classic games with a spooky theme, such as “Zombie Fluxx” and “Mad Science Expo.” Families are welcome to bring their own games to share.

Children in kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to celebrate Halloween at a “Tricked-Out Treats” event from 5 to 6 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Sugar Creek Branch.

In a “Genealogy on a Budget” event, genealogist Paul McNeil will give a guided tour through Hancock County Public Library’s free genealogy databases from 7 to 8 p.m. Oct. 16 in Greenfield. Sign up for the free event at hcplibrary.org or (317) 462-5141.

This month’s Women’s Book Discussion will take place from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Sugar Creek Branch. The featured book is mystery thrillers “Magpie Murders” by Anthony Horowitz. Teens and tweens in Grades 6-12 are invited to an after-hours Disney villain-themed party from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Sugar Creek Branch.

The library will provide pizza and themed snacks, movies to watch, games to play, and crafts to make that are all about favorite Disney villains. Guests are encouraged to wear a costume of their favorite villain or hero.

To attend this free event, teens must hand in a permission slip and photo release form and return them in to the youth desk no later than 8 p.m. Oct. 17. Document links are available on the events calendar at hcplibrary.org, or teens may ask for copies at the desk.
