GREENFIELD — Downtown Greenfield is shut down for the Riley Festival, which means anyone trying to traverse the city will have to use detours.

Generally, the detour routes are Tague Street on the south, Franklin Street on the west, McKenzie Road on the north and Apple Street on the east. The Greenfield Police Department has erected signs directing traffic to the detour routes.

If you’re coming to the festival, organizers strongly recommend parking at the Hancock County 4-H Fairgrounds and taking a shuttle to the festival. The shuttle bus costs 50 cents each way and will run throughout the duration of the Riley Festival. The shuttle vehicles are not wheelchair-accessible, but wheelchairs that can be folded can be carried aboard. The shuttle vehicles also have steps to be negotiated.

Shuttle schedule

Saturday: 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Sunday: 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Street parking in the neighborhoods near the festival will fill up quickly; organizers and police ask visitors to exercise caution as they search for spots on neighborhood streets, because numerous pedestrians will be present.

Visitors also should be attentive not to block driveways. Those vehicles might be towed.
