Mt. Vernon blanks Pendleton Heights
Mt. Vernon left little doubt Monday in its match at Pendleton Heights to secure the outright Hoosier Heritage Conference title.
The Marauders beat the Arabians 7-0 and finished the conference season with a 7-0 record. The Arabians finished 5-2 in conference play and are 9-4-2 overall.
Riley Hurst and Anna Isger had two goals each. Katie Gawrys, Maddie Swingle and Mariam Konate had the other goals.
Isger, Konate and Shay Shipley each had an assist. Alex Overshiner had four saves.
The Marauders have gone unbeaten in league play for two straight years. Their overall record is 11-5.
New Pal wins big over Shelbyville
New Palestine wrapped up Hoosier Heritage Conference play with a 9-0 home win over Shelbyville.
Madalyn Miller had three goals and Edin Hurst scored two. Haley Weinrich, Mia Knoop, Addie Halter and Bethany Aldridge had the other tallies.
Halter and Cate Black had two assists each. Other assists were by Maddy Potter, Alexi Baynes, Emmy Giddens and Lucy Miller.
The Dragons are 9-5-2 overall and 3-4 in the HHC. Shelbyville is 4-9-1 and 1-5 in conference play.
Volleyball
Cougars sweep Southport
The sets were close, but Greenfield-Central won them all in a 3-0 victory over visiting Southport on Monday.
The Cougars won by set scores of 25-23, 26-24, 25-23.
It was Greenfield-Central’s final home match of the season.
Makayla Price had 14 kills and 13 digs. Ava Antic had 11 kills and nine digs. Brooke Herrell added eight kills. Setters Morgan Hornaday and Ali Knecht had 21 and 15 assists, respectively.
Eastern Hancock goes 3-1
At the Eastern Hancock Invitational, the Royals won three of four matches to improve to 10-17 on the season.
After a 2-0 loss to Frankton, Eastern Hancock beat Riverside 2-0, Indian Creek 2-1 and Beech Grove 2-0.

Mt. Vernon lost 5-0 to Delta on Monday.
The Marauders finish the regular season 15-2 and 6-1 in the Hoosier Heritage Conference.
