Greenfield woman dies six days after being struck by car driven by suspected drunk driver

GREENFIELD – The Greenfield woman who was struck by a vehicle being driven by a suspected drunk driver last Thursday night, has passed away due to the injuries she suffered after being hit.

Kathy Davis, 71, Greenfield, died late Wednesday afternoon officials from the Greenfield Police Department said, in a press release.

After being hit, Davis was airlifted from Hancock Regional Hospital to St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition for several days following the crash.

Jeremy Thompson, 39, Greenfield, has been charged with a Level 4 felony count of causing catastrophic injury when operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Thompson, who was uninjured in the crash, was driving a gray 2008 Pontiac G6 when he hit Davis who was walking at the time. The Greenfield police and fire departments were dispatched to the crash near the intersection of East McKenzie Road and North Brandywine Street in Greenfield and handled the incident.
