Girls soccer

Cougars take home trophy

Greenfield-Central rolled to an 11-0 win against Delta on Wednesday, capturing the Hoosier Heritage Conference’s traveling bell trophy for the first time.

Senior Anne Marie DeKeyser led the way with four goals, sophomore Kelsi McLaughlin had three goals and two assists, junior Kennedy Trapp had two goals and an assist, junior Kambell Trapp had one goal, freshman Cora Bishop tallied three assists, and sophomore Emma Rennier, freshman Sarah Contrarez and junior Morgan Murdoch each had one assist. Junior Schyler Slunaker and freshman Hannah Skene combined for the shutout in net.

Volleyball

Dragons set career marks

Several New Palestine volleyball players posted career highs Wednesday in a 22-25, 25-16, 25-14, 25-20 victory against Lutheran.

Kaelyn Armstrong posted a double-double for the Dragons with 12 digs and a career-high 15 kills. Grace Myers led the Dragon defense with a career-high 28 digs. Makaylah Flagle had 14 digs. Up front, Rachel Popp had 12 kills, Kennedy Stepheson nine and Reagan Kleiman seven, all career highs.

Royals fall in road match

After stopping a three-game losing streak with a Tuesday win against Union, Eastern Hancock fell on the road to Wapahani on Wednesday, 25-12, 25-8, 25-7.

Hosts win Cougarpalooza

Greenfield-Central’s boys team won Wednesday’s Cougarpalooza Invitational, while the girls finished fourth.

Conner Kinnaman was the individual winner for the boys and Audrey Brinkruff won the girls race for the Cougars.

Dragons earn victory

New Palestine defeated Lawrence Central 4-1 on Wednesday in a series of competitive matches.

The Dragons swept the singles. Ben Blachly led the way at No. 1 with a solid 6-2, 6-2 victory. Colin Darley had a tough battle and won 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 at No. 2. Zach Au outplayed his foe for a 7-5, 6-1 victory. At No. 1 doubles, Ethan Haeberle/Ezra Schwier had great rallies and won 6-4, 6-4. Clayton Wesley/Jackson Havel played hard in a 6-4, 6-3 loss at No. 2 doubles.

Marauders get big road win

Mt. Vernon traveled to Lawrence North on Wednesday, topping the hosts for the first time in seven years, 4-1.

Owen Koon and Dallas Turner were first off the court, winning 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles. No. 3 singles player Reece Powell was off next, winning a tough match 6-4, 6-2. The No. 1 doubles team of Justin Lemke/Jackson Dunlavy got the clinching point with a 6-4, 6-2 win. Chris Hays picked up the final point at No. 2 singles with a 4-6, 6-0, 10-5 win.

Royals get another win

Eastern Hancock continued its momentum from winning the MEC, topping Southwestern on Wednesday, 4-1.

Kodey Huff picked up a quick 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles. Nolan Stout won 7-5, 6-1 at No. 2 and Zeke Dixon won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3. Sammy Blocher and Bryce Wennen got the final point at No. 2 doubles, winning 6-1, 1-6, 6-2.

Cougars fall to Rushville

Greenfield-Central lost a close match to Rushville on Wednesday night, falling 3-2.

The Cougars wins came from the doubles doubles positions, as Seth Kirkpatrick and Kane Bradley won at No. 1 and Collin Hunt and Corbin Tilley won at No. 2.

Girls golf

Dragons top host Richmond

New Palestine posted a 181-189 victory Wednesday over Richmond at the Richmond Elks Club.

Annaliese Fox was match medalist with a 36. Izzy Gray shot 45, Megan Diller 48 and Zoe Nelson 52.

Cougars continue rolling

Greenfield-Central kept their strong season moving forward with a 174-179 win over Pendleton at Fall Creek on Wednesday, moving their overall record to 14-1.

The Cougars were led by Caroline Gibson’s 41 and Katie Curry’s 43. Haley Hoagland and Tandess O’Neal both carded 45s to close out the scoring.

Marauders finish 2nd in tri

Mt. Vernon was on the road Wednesday, shooting a 194 to finish second behind winner Delta (191) and the hosts, Muncie Central.

Haidyn Cauldwell shot a season low of 56 for the Marauders.
