GREENFIELD — Local charitable organizations will compete to see who can raise the most money at the Rotary Club of Greenfield’s Steak ‘N Bake ‘N Raffle event Saturday.
Thousands of dollars are at stake. Event coordinator Sara Bernzott Spotanski said the Rotary Club votes to choose a top 10 from the nonprofit organizations that apply to participate. From there, the organizations chosen solicit donations from their supporters, both in the run-up to the event and on the night itself, to be one of the top five.
Those organizations will not only keep their own donation dollars, but will receive a portion of the ticket sales and other revenue from the dinner. Spotanski said each of those five organizations could expect to receive approximately $5,000 in shared revenue.
“The whole goal is to have supporters come to the dinner and vote with their dollars,” Spotanski said.
The participating organizations this year are the Boys & Girls Club of Hancock County, Friends of Recovery, Friends 4 Jessica, Friends of the Theater, Hancock County Senior Services, Life Choices, Love INC, Meals on Wheels of Hancock County, Pennsy Trails of Hancock County and the Women’s Resource Center.
Organizations have been sending out social media posts, emails and physical mail to their donors asking for their support in the competition.
The event will be held at the 4-H Exhibit Hall at the Hancock County Fairgrounds in Greenfield beginning at 6 p.m. It will feature a steak dinner, beverages, and music and dancing featuring a live band. Participants can enter 50/50 raffles and play games for prizes including a 50-inch television.
The highest-value prize will be in the “reverse raffle,” in which names will be pulled throughout the night and the last remaining name will win $2,000.
To purchase tickets, contact Deby Low at (317) 467-2228 or Spotanski at (317) 462-6506. They can also be purchased at Forty Financial or State Farm in Greenfield. Remaining tickets will be available for purchase the night of the event.
