Golf outing to aid military families

The 5th Annual Helping Hands For Freedom Tee It Up for the Heroes golf outing will take place on July 14 at Valle Vista Golf Course in Greenwood. This is a shotgun scramble with no minimum drives and kicks off at 9 a.m. All players will enjoy free beer, soda and water on the course, and a buffet lunch after with a silent auction and awards. The basic foursome is $360. Hole sponsorships are $100. You can register and get all sponsorship details at https://www.helpinghandsforfreedom.org/events/tee-it-up-for-heroes-2019.

Helping Hands For Freedom is a 501c3 nonprofit that was co-founded in 2008 by Shelby County resident and retired Army Staff Sgt. Patrick Shannon. He received a Bronze Star for bravery for service in Iraq. He has also received two Purple Hearts for injuries received in combat. We aid military and Gold Star families with emergency financial life needs (rent, mortgage, utilities, etc.)

Helping Hands For Freedom also provides children and families with toys and meals during the holidays, as well as tickets for Gold Star and wounded veteran family members to attend sporting events, give out back to school supplies and partner with Survivor Outreach Services to offer free therapy and emotional support to family members who lost a family member during their military service.
