Velma P. “Nana” Foster, 83, of Fortville, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born February 18, 1935, in Roane County, Tennessee to Frank and Jamie (Pelfry) Lane.

Velma had worked at the former RCA plant in Indianapolis. She loved gardening, flowers and family. She was the best babysitter in the world. Velma fought a brave and good fight over the last 6 years.

Velma is survived by husband Harold “Shorty” Foster, whom she married May 26, 1958; children: Howard (Ellen Moore) Foster of Greenfield; Janice (Rick) Hiser of Fortville; Greg (Patti) Foster of Greenfield; Jeffrey Foster of Fortville; grandchildren: Dwayne Hedges, Adam (Kara Waldon) Foster, Alisha Stultz, Richie (Emily) Hiser, Jami (Blake) Crisman, Angel Foster, Beth (Tim) Tarplee, and Justin Hiser; great-grandchildren: Amber Foster, Ashlynne Hedges, Autumn Foster, Matthew Stultz, Emily Stultz, Quentin Hedges, Avery Crisman, Gavin Crisman and Oliver Crisman; sister: Elizabeth Hubbs of Romeoville, IL; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Velma was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Charles Lane, James Lane and Frank Lane, Jr. as well as sister Ruth McLees.

A funeral service to celebrate Velma’s life will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville.
