Ball State

MUNCIE —Chyan Gilaspy, Ball State University anthropology major from Greenfield, has spent the semester compiling a list of 100 prominent sites in African-American history in Indiana for the National Park Service African American Civil Rights Grant-funded project. This list will be used to create a new virtual museum of African-American history sites in Indiana and to create Indiana history trail tours. This is the first grant from this program awarded in Indiana. Through a public history practicum class, Gilaspy worked with a team of nine other students under the direction of Ball State history professor Ronald V. Morris to create this list. To find the sites featured on their list, the students researched Indiana’s government website, online history databases and local history magazines.
