Eastern Hancock picked up a hard-fought 10-9, 10-inning victory against Randolph Southern on Tuesday.

The game was tied at eight in the top of the tenth when A.J. Muegge tripled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.

Payton Wilkinson was credited with the victory for Eastern Hancock. He allowed one hit and one run over three innings, striking out one. Andy Locker threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Eastern Hancock had seven hits in the game. Muegge and Jarett Lewis each had two hits. True led the Royals with two of the teams’ five stolen bases. Andrew Knoblock homered, and Muegge led the way with three RBIs.

Marauders win pitchers’ duel

Mt. Vernon hosted Shenandoah on Tuesday, picking up a win in a pitchers’ duel, 1-0.

Freshman A.J. Swingle pitched six strong innings in earning his second win of the season. Dylan Cole struck out two in the seventh to earn the save.

Thomas Obergfell had two hits, and Jake Stadler scored the lone run in the contest.

The Marauders (9-4) return to action today at home against Muncie Central.

Softball

Royals get run-rule win

It took a few innings for the offense to come alive, but when it did, Eastern Hancock quickly piled on the runs en route to a 10-0 win Tuesday against Monroe Central.

Eastern Hancock was held scoreless the first two innings, and scored the winning run in the third. The Royals broke the game open with four in the fourth inning, then scored a solitary run in the fifth and four more in the sixth to end the game.

Elise Bittinger pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing four hits. Offensively, the Royals were led by Megan Bever’s three hits and two RBIs, along with Bailey Stephens’ two hits and three RBIs and Paige Wickard’s two hit, two RBI day.

Tennis

Cougars fall to Shelbyville

Greenfield-Central hosted Shelbyville on Tuesday, falling in a close contest 3-2.

The Cougars picked up wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, but lost at No. 3 and both doubles spots.

Yellow Jackets top Royals

Eastern Hancock couldn’t continue their winning ways from Monday, dropping Tuesday’s contest against Morristown 3-2.

The Royals were swept in the singles matches, but picked up wins at both doubles positions. At No. 1 doubles, Kayla Huff and Madison Hagan won 6-2, 6-4. At No. 2 doubles, Corina Jennings and Chloe McCarty won 6-2, 6-2.

Dragons best Southwestern

New Palestine won the first three matches Tuesday and posted a victory 3-2 at Southwestern.

Senior Ivey Simmons won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.

The Dragons swept the doubles. The No. 1 doubles pairing of juniors Josee KIng and Claire Cherry won 6-0, 6-1. Dragons sophomore Briette Basaran made her varsity debut, playing with junior Sheridan Shrowe at No. 2 doubles. The New Palestine pairing won 6-0, 6-0.

Marauders sweep Richmond

Mt. Vernon picked up their 10th victory of the season Tuesday, beating Richmond 5-0 at home.

The Marauders won in two sets at every position, losing no more than four games in any of them. Mt. Vernon is now 10-2 on the year.
