Marion D. “Bud” Curtis, Jr.

Marion D. “Bud” Curtis, Jr., age 70, of New Palestine, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Hancock Regional Hospice in Greenfield. Marion was born March 27, 1948, to the late Marion and Mildred (Bowman) Curtis of Maxwell, IN. Bud graduated from Hancock Central in 1966. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. He served as a paratrooper and an M.P. in Panama. Marion married Judy A. (Lee) on April 11, 1975, in Oneida, TN.

He worked at International Harvester/Navistar as an electrician for 44 years. In his youth, he enjoyed swimming, fishing, raising hunting dogs and hunting wild game. In recent years, Bud enjoyed working on projects outdoors and maintaining his lawn. He was a loving and caring father, husband, and friend. He was an admired uncle to his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Bud is survived by his wife of 43 years, Judy Lee Curtis; son, Dustin Scott Curtis, his wife Jessica; granddaughter, Madelyn Curtis (who meant the world to him); and son, Justin Eric Curtis, his wife Corinne, with a new grandson on the way. He has four sisters, Barbara Curtis, Debbie (Ronald) Martin, Janna (Brian) Grubbs, and Tammi (Danny) Gassert. He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents, George R. and Mary Elizabeth Bowman, and Eddie N. and Goldie (Jackson) Curtis.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will take place on Friday, May 4, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the mortuary. Chaplain Katherine Murray will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield. Military rites will be provided by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard.
