The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Feb. 23

McDonald’s

Location: 5122 U.S. 52 West, New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

Aramark

Location: 2001 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — slaw, dressing, cheese and lunch meat not being held at 41 degrees or lower, corrected; NC — soap needed at hand sink, to be corrected by Feb. 23.

Taxman Gastropub

Location: 29 S. Main St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — must review employee health policy with all staff and have accessible sample give, working containers/spray bottles must be labeled with common name of chemicals, corrected; NC — ice scoops must be protected in a clean manner when in use, need paper towels available at all hand sinks, corrected; NC — hand sinks need to have hot water that is at least 100 degrees, gap at exterior back door, to be corrected by May 1.

Daniel’s Vineyard

Location: 9061 N. County Road 700W, McCordsville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — need employee health policy available and reviewed with all staff, glasses machine not sanitizing, sanitizing solution at three-compartment sink not at correct concentration, corrected; C — expired in-house made dressings, corrected/discarded; NC/R — water temperature at hand sinks must be at least 100 degrees, dish machine must reach 120 degrees, to be corrected by May 1; NC — need paper towels at hand sink in pizza area, corrected.

El Mariachi

Location: 826 S. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

Dave’s Meat Market

Location: 333 S. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — need to have certified food handler, to be corrected by May 1; C — outdated milk in cooler, corrected; NC — remove debris from food storage tables/shelving, repair lighting in meat-cutting room, repair roof so that water does not leak into food prep areas, to be corrected by May 1; NC/R — continue to clean floor under equipment, along sides and in corners, to be corrected by May 1.

Feb. 27

Dairy Queen

Location: 346 W. Broadway, Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — sanitizer too low in sani-buckets in kitchen, corrected; NC — repair/replace lighting in kitchen area, repair leaky faucet at hand sink, to be corrected by May 1; NC/R — repair/replace tiles in kitchen where they are cracked/broken, to be corrected by May 1; C — ice machine is leaking water from the top which is going into the ice bin and contaminating ice, corrected.

Pizza King

Location: 215 W. Broadway, Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — clean outside of walk-in cooler and area where pizza dough is made, to be corrected by May 1.

Mozzi’s

Location: 2221 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — dish machine not dispensing sanitizer at the correct concentration.

Florida Cracker BBQ

Location: 812 S. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — cannot handle ready-to-eat foods/bread with bare hands, corrected; NC — remove/dispose of unnecessary items and litter stored on side of building, to be corrected by March 15; NC/R — replace/repair coving at entrance to kitchen, clean wall behind hot hold warmers below table shelf, to be corrected by May 1.
