GREENFIELD
Barbara (Wise) Simmons, 86, of Greenfield, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018. She was born on September 29, 1931 in Indianapolis as the daughter of Lester and Sarah (Mattix) Wise.
She graduated from Beech Grove High School 1950. Barbara married Richard Simmons on June 10, 1950 in Indianapolis.
She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family and friends. Barbara was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Idlewold Women’s Golf Club and Women’s Golf Club in Bartow. She enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing bingo.
Barbara is survived by her children, Richard “Rick” (Marjorie) Simmons of Franklin, TN, Kenneth “Kenny” (Lisa) Simmons of Greenfield and Danny (Deloress) Simmons of Greenfield; 11 grandchildren, Trisha (Jason), Kendra, Sean (Deann), Bethany (Mark), LeeAnn, Natalie, Jennifer (Brandon), Jason (Emily), Justin (Gretchen), David, and Jeff (Tiffany); and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Sarah Wise; husband, Richard Simmons; and son, Michael Simmons.
A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, February 19, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 124 E. Staat Street, Fortville, IN 46040. A memorial service will take place immediately following the gathering at 7:00 p.m. Reverend Lowell Thomas will be officiating. A private graveside service will take place at Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville.
