Royals seeking Hall of Fame nominees

The Eastern Hancock Athletic Boosters are seeking nominations for the Eastern Hancock Athletic Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame recognizes the achievements of former athletes, teams, coaches, administrators, and other contributors to the athletic programs at Eastern Hancock, Charlottesville, Westland, and Wilkinson High Schools.

To be eligible for the Class of 2017, an athlete must be seven years removed from competition, coaches five years, and teams 10 years. Nominations are due to the Eastern Hancock Athletics Office by the end of the school day Dec. 20.

The 2017 Hall of Fame class will be recognized at halftime of a yet to be determined Eastern Hancock home boys varsity basketball game next month.

Mt. Vernon Boosters hosts dinner fundraiser

The Mt. Vernon Adult Athletic Boosters are hosting a dinner fundraiser on Saturday, provided by Rollin Smoke BBQ.

Dinner will be served between the Mt. Vernon varsity girls basketball game against North Central and the boys varsity game against Rushville. The girls game will start at 1:30 p.m. with the boys at 7:30 p.m. with junior varsity games at noon and 6 p.m.

Rollin Smoke BBQ owner Urban Piworski will be cooking and serving his famous smoked pulled pork, chicken and hotdogs, along with sides. The dinner will be available inside the Mt. Vernon High School cafeteria (enter door No. 7) from 3 to 7 p.m. Adult dinners are $8 and kids eat for $3.

Mt. Vernon Marauders spirit wear will be available to purchase throughout the day. Also, various sport teams have put together baskets which will be put up for silent auction during the day with winners being announced at halftime of boys varsity game.
