PLAINFIELD
Terry E. Jeffers, 68 of Plainfield, passed away December 12, 2017. Born October 24, 1949 in Terre Haute, he was the son of Donald Vaine and Edna Mae Hallett Jeffers.
Terry was a U. S. Army veteran and served in the Vietnam War from 1969 until 1971. He was a member of the Terre Haute American Legion Post #104, VFW, and DAV. He married Carrie V. Jones Kendall on September 13, 1997 in Plainfield.
Mr. Jeffers worked at Terre Haute South High School as groundskeeper and custodian until he moved to Plainfield in 1990. He then became a truck driver and retired in 2010.
For numerous years, he had a positive impact on the community and loved playing Santa Claus in Terre Haute, Plainfield, and surrounding areas. Santa performed at the Honey Creek Square Mall, home parties, various restaurants, and parades where he delighted the kids by arriving on his red Honda motorcycle, known as Rudolph. Throughout his career, he also earned many awards for his motorcycle skills.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie Jeffers of Plainfield; 7 children: Laura (John) of New Port Richey, FL, Terry II (Jennifer) of Sevierville, TN, Barb (Ron) of Terre Haute, Patty (Steve) of Center Point, Dwayne of Terre Haute, Tim (Sandra) of Lapel, Troy (Danielle) of Plainfield; sister: Arlene (Bob) Oppold of Bryant, AR; brother: Billie (Bea) Jeffers of Knoxville, TN; 14 grandchildren: Jon-David, Jordan, Izic, Andy, Kaleena, Jacinda, Christie, Lisa, Timmy, Jared, Ashlin, Skye, Callista, Treyven; 11 great grandchildren: Yarden, Trace, Tyler, Teegan, Kaedyn, Neveah, Cadence, Macy, Michael, Cy, Morgan, Kenzi, and Mason.
Services will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Hall-Baker Funeral Home in Plainfield. Calling will be from 11:00 am until the service time in the funeral home.
