Vance C. VanMatre, 80, Pendleton, died May 11, 2016, at the Countryside Health and Living Community, Anderson. He was born on June 22, 1935, in Anderson, and resided most of his life in the Markleville/Pendleton area.
Vance is survived by his loving daughter, Alice Darlene (Gene) Best of Middletown; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Tiny (Lloyd) Eskew and David (Mary) VanMatre; sister-in-laws, Betty VanMatre, Barbara VanMatre and Diana VanMatre; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ora and Crystal B. VanMatre; brothers, Sterling VanMatre and Elmer VanMatre; sisters, Cora Neidzweicki, Nancy Lemay and Pearl Owens; brothers-in-law, Lester Lemay and Jim Owens; and his father and mother-in-law Elijah and Mary Larmore.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday,
May 15, at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd St., Anderson. Services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, May 16, at the funeral home with the Rev. Walt Weaver Jr. officiating. Burial will take place in Anderson Memorial Park.
