Baseball state tourney draw approaching
The IHSAA will conduct its sectional draw at 8 a.m. Tuesday for the 2016 state baseball tournament.
The official pairings will be released on the IHSAA’s website after the pairings have been determined.
The sectional tournament will run from May 25 to 30, with days and times scheduled by each host school.
The second team named in each pairing is the designated home team except when they advance by virtue of a bye. The bye will be home in the semifinal and the visitors in the championship game.
In Class 4A, Greenfield-Central competes in the Richmond Sectional. The field includes Anderson, Muncie Central, New Castle, Richmond and Pendleton Heights.
Mt. Vernon host its own 4A sectional with Indianapolis Tech, Cathedral, Lawrence Central, Lawrence North and Warren Central.
New Palestine will travel to the 3A Bishop Chatard Sectional, which includes Brebeuf Jesuit, Herron, Indianapolis Manual and the host Trojans.
In Class 2A, Eastern Hancock travels to the Heritage Christian Sectional with Triton Central, Broad Ripple, Irvington Prep and the host Eagles.
Admission per session is $6 and $10 for all sessions.

Softball teams ready for annual Cougar Classic
Nine softball games are scheduled to be played during the 2016 Greenfield-Central Cougar Classic on Saturday.
The tournament begins at 9 a.m., with pool play conducted at Greenfield-Central High School and Greenfield Central Junior High School. Crossover games and the championship will run consecutively from 3 p.m. at the high school.
Admission is $5 and good all day for both locations.

Gates open to the public at 8 a.m., with practice set to start at 9:30 a.m.
