James Alan Westcott of Springfield, Mo., passed away March 12, 2016. He was born May 21, 1933, to Harry Edward Westcott and Ruby Jane (Stoeber) Westcott in Indianapolis.
He graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1951. He was in the Naval Reserve from 1951 to 1960. He was a Master of the Royal Secret of the 32 Degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite. He was very active in the Chanters through the Masons. He retired from National Property and Casualty Company.
Over the years he became a dedicated blood donor and while living in Springfield, became a member of the 15 gallon blood donor club.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia Westcott of Springfield, Mo.; sons, James Westcott, and Michael Westcott of Greenfield; daughters, Patricia (Steve) Hunter of Rushville and Susan (Jeff) Apple of Greenfield; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; stepson, Denis Connor of Cherry Hill, N.J.; stepdaughters, Kathleen (Lee) Griffin of Ocala, Fla., Mary Jo (Jerry) Carpenter of Frazeyburg, Ohio and Anne (Darrell) Henderson of Acworth, Ga.; nine stepgrandchildren; as well as six great-stepgrandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry E. and Ruby J. Westcott and brothers, Roy E. Westcott and Harry F. Westcott.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Hendryx Mortuary — New Palestine Chapel, 19 E. Main Street New Palestine IN 46163. Visitation from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Service will be at 11 a.m. with burial following at the New Palestine Cemetery.
