The nets were triumphantly cut down this past weekend by the Eastern Hancock Middle School girls seventh-grade basketball team.
The Royals won the school’s first Mid-Hoosier Conference championship Saturday by defeating Morristown 33-30 at Indian Creek.
Coached by Rex Putt and Gary Powers, the talented squad ran through South Decatur, Edinburgh and Southwestern (Shelby) before advancing into the conference championship final.
They finished 7-0 against conference foes for the season to earn the outright title.
The MHC championship roster consisted of Chloe O’Neal, Delaney Collins, Emma Marden, Katie Brown, Bella Witte, Jordyn Wickard, Jenna White and Jaysa Melton.

Last month, the Eastern Hancock Middle School boys teams relished victory on their home floor.
The fifth-grade boys were crowned champions of the Eastern Hancock Invitational on Feb. 20.
Not to be outdone, the Eastern Hancock Middle School sixth-grade team duplicated the feat by winning their age-group during the Eastern Hancock Invitational the same weekend.
