Charles “Chuck” W. Rutledge, 53, of Greenfield, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at his residence. He was born on Aug. 7, 1962, in Greenfield as the son of Jacque R. and Brenda (Banker) Rutledge.
He graduated from Greenfield Central High School in 1981. Chuck married Janice M. (Strahl) on Nov. 6, 1982 in Greenfield.
He was a firefighter for 15 years with the Greenfield Fire Territory. When he retired, he was the Division Chief of Training and Safety and also a volunteer. Chuck established the cadet program for the Greenfield Fire Department before retiring and continued as the Cadet Advisor during retirement. Chuck was a member of Trinity Park United Methodist Church. He loved fishing, hiking, camping, kayaking, and was an avid outdoorsman.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Janice Rutledge of Greenfield; sons, Craig (Kayla) Rutledge of Ingalls and Todd Rutledge of Greenfield; granddaughter, Emery Rose Rutledge; sister, Patty Rutledge of Greenfield; brother, Darryl Rutledge of Greenfield; father, Jacque (Betty A.) Rutledge of Greenfield and grandmother, Vera Rutledge of Peru, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda Rutledge and grandparents, Charlie Rutledge, Mary Wilson and William Francis Banker.
Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2016, at Trinity Park United Methodist Church, 207 W. Park Avenue, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 11, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the church. Reverend Mike Manning will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
