Trio of county players named IBCA All-State
On Thursday, the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association released its 2015-16 Supreme 15 All-State honors, and four local girls basketball players earned recognition.
Mt. Vernon’s Sydney Shelton was voted to the IBCA/Subway Supreme 15 Senior girls team.
Shelton, an Indiana Junior All-Star core six member last summer, broke Hancock County’s all-time career scoring record this season.
Greenfield-Central’s Madison Wise, the 2015-16 Daily Reporter Player of the Year, was named to the IBCA Supreme 15 Underclass girls team.
Ranked in the nation’s top-60 for the Class of 2017 by ESPN, Wise was selected as a core six member for the 2016 Indiana Junior All-Stars.
Greenfield-Central’s Katie Helgason was named to the IBCA Underclass Large School All-State Team (Class 3A-4A). The point guard was chosen as a 2016 Indiana Junior All-Star for the south group.
New Palestine’s Raegan McMurray received an IBCA Underclass honorable mention.

The Greenfield Youth Baseball Association has extended its deadline to sign up for the upcoming season until today.

Annual 3-on-3 hoops tourney this month
The Eastern Hancock Athletic Boosters will conduct their annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament March 12 at Eastern Hancock Schools.
There will be five divisions of play each for boys and girls. There also will be two open divisions for those younger than age 35 and those 35 and older.
Early registrations are due by today. Space permitting, registrations also will be accepted from 9 to 10 a.m. the day of the tournament.

Bowler rolls 823 series
Jason Nulliner of Beech Grove bowled an 823 series on Tuesday at Strike Force Lanes. He mowed down the pins during the Tuesday Racers League.
