Jack E. Heiden, 69, of Fortville, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born Nov. 3, 1946 in Anderson, to the late Jack L. and Delma (Albea) Heiden.
Jack graduated from Central Hancock High School and the University of Evansville. He was an Army Veteran, a former Hancock County Commissioner, former Hancock County Coroner and had worked for the DEA.
He retired as a Lieutenant Detective with the Greenfield Police Department in 2000. Jack had been a women’s softball coach for the University of Indianapolis, Mt. Vernon High School and Eastern Hancock High School.
He is survived by wife, Melitta (Meyer) Heiden, whom he married Sept. 5, 1969, in Giessen, Germany; daughter: Stacey (Robin Mastin) Heiden of Fortville; three grandchildren; sister, Kathleen Cooper of Pendleton.
Jack was preceded in passing by daughter, Patty Singleton and sister, Pat Burcham.
A memorial service to celebrate Jack’s life will be held at 7p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2016, at Seals Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fortville. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of service.
