GREENFIELD — Two people accused of burglarizing the home of Hancock County sheriff’s deputy are in the Hancock County Jail after being transported back to Indiana from South Dakota, where they were originally taken into custody.

Police believe Korey Sawicki of Knightstown and Janelle Perkins of Greenfield broke into a sheriff’s deputy’s home in New Palestine in October before fleeing to South Dakota.

Warrants were issued for the couple in October, and they were arrested in November after leading police in South Dakota on a high-speed chase in a stolen car, officials said.

Perkins was brought back to Indiana in January, and Sawicki was booked into the jail this week. Both have pleaded not guilty to a Level 4 felony charge of burglary and each is being held on a $15,000 cash bond.
