Note results in police searching school
NEW PALESTINE — A threatening note left by a student at New Palestine Elementary on Tuesday afternoon resulted in police being called in to search the school.
On Wednesday morning, parents received an email from Superintendent Lisa Lantrip stating the threat made by the student, who is not being identified, was not deemed a credible threat after officers from local law enforcement departments and Indiana State Police searched the school.
Staff at the school found the note after school let out Tuesday. Details about what was written on the note were not released.
After the building was searched for explosives and other potential threats and nothing was found, administrators decided it would be safe for students and staff to be at school Wednesday.
Lantrip said the school is handling discipline for the 11-year-old student who left the note.
