Susan Jane (Kleindorfer) Erwin, 62, of Greenfield, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at IU Health University Hospital. She was born on May 22, 1953, in Indianapolis as the daughter of Donald and Barbara (Buckner) Kleindorfer.
She graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1971 and received her Bachelors and Masters in Education from Indiana University. Susan married Donald C. Erwin on May 29, 1976 in Indianapolis.
She was a 2nd and 3rd grade teacher at Weston Elementary for 33 years. Mrs. Erwin was a member of Bradley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling and loved having conversations with her family and friends. She was a woman of immense strength and fought through leukemia twice.
Susan is survived by her loving husband, Don Erwin of Greenfield; daughter, Angela (Neal Passamaneck) Erwin of Louisville; son, Alex (Meredith) Erwin of Indianapolis; brother, Mark (Susan) Kleindorfer of Troy, Ill.; sister, Connie (Mike) Reder of Greenfield; cousin, Bill (Wanda) Murphy of Greenfield; stepmother, Jo Kleindorfer of Greenfield; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Debbie Pabst of Terre Haute and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Barbara (Buckner) Kleindorfer.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 25, 2016 at the mortuary. Pastor Dave Scifres will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
