Wilma Dean (Adkins) Phares, 84, of Mohawk, passed into eternity on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at Hancock Regional Hospice in Greenfield. She was born on April 21, 1931, in Greenup County, Ky., as the daughter of Joseph and Aileen (Roberts) Adkins.

She graduated from Charlottesville High School in 1949.  Wilma married her loving husband, Kenneth Phares on Dec. 31, 1953, in Charlottesville.

Mrs. Phares worked at the Indiana Statehouse, L.S. Ayres Cosmetics, and volunteered at Hancock Regional Hospital. She also was an active member of Mohawk United Methodist Church, where she assisted with Sunday School and Nursery. She enjoyed Home Economics and Bunco club and loved spending time with her family, dogs, birds and flowers.

Wilma leaves her children, Jeffrey (Denise) Phares of Mohawk and Susan (Rick) Edwards of Mohawk; grandchildren, James, John, Megan (Jeffery), Ethan and Luke; great- grandchildren, Willow and Walker and sister-in-law, Patricia Adkins.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Joseph and Aileen (Roberts) Adkins; husband, Kenneth Phares; brother, Floyd Adkins; sister, Mary Jo Leary and brother-in-law, Dean Leary.

Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at the mortuary.  Reverend Woody Thompson will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.

Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46140 or Hancock Regional Hospital Foundation, Attn: Hospice, 801 N. State Street, Greenfield, IN 46140. Envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
